Meta, the parent company of Instagram, recently announced that the Channels features for broadcasting messages would be available. Prior to its global rollout, the feature was only available to select users and creators. The web-based entertainment stage began testing the transmission directs highlight in February this year. Creators will be able to update their broadcast channels' invited and subscribed followers with text, video, and photo updates using this feature. It should be noted that broadcast channels only allow creators to send messages. Only content reactions and poll votes are available to followers.
On June 15, Meta made an announcement about the global rollout of the Broadcast Channels in a blog post. A creator can invite their followers and send messages once they have access to create a channel. After joining the channel, followers will be notified whenever the creator posts new content. However, the channel's content will be accessible to all Instagram users.
At any time, followers can exit the channel or mute notifications.
Here's how to set up a broadcast channel on an Android or iOS device if you're an Instagram creator:
Step 1: Open your Instagram page and choose the messenger option from the top right of the feed. Tap the edit or write message icon in the upper right.
Step 2: Select the option to "Create broadcast channel."
Step 3: Select your target audience and name your broadcast channel.
Step 4: You can select the channel from your profile. Tap Create broadcast channel at the end.
Users can join the broadcast channel by tapping the link pinned to their Instagram profile or the access link shared by the creator. They will be subscribed to receive notifications whenever there are updates once they select "Join broadcast channel." Responding to content or voting in polls are other ways followers can get involved. However, they won't be able to communicate with anyone.
