Gmail's 'Help Me Write' Feature is Now Available to Enrolled Testers on Android, iOS: Report

At its annual Google I/O 2023 event, Google also revealed other AI-based features, including a brand-new "Help Me Write" feature. The AI-based writing enhancement tool will function in Gmail and Google Docs, and the feature will be made available to Google Workspace users who sign up to test it. On iOS and Android, testers who have signed up for the Workspace Labs program can now access it.

The search engine's AI-powered Help Me Write feature has begun to be made available to Workspace Labs testers on Gmail for Android and iOS, as reported by 9to5Google. The Help Me Write feature in Gmail was previously restricted to desktop users who were enrolled in Workspace Labs. By creating a draft based on the user's prompts, the feature will make email writing easier.

On its support page, Google has also provided instructions on how to use the brand-new, AI-enabled Help Me Write feature in Gmail to write an email. On both iOS and Android, users can select the Help Me Write feature by tapping the compose button at the bottom right of the screen. Enter a prompt such as "A Job Application" or "A Thank You Letter for My Job Interview." Before clicking the "send" button, users will be able to edit or make changes to the email that the AI has generated.

Notably, by simply tapping "Recreate," users can also send feedback about the generated text or create a new version. Google Docs will also have access to the Help Me Write feature; however, the precise timeline for its rollout has not yet been disclosed by Google.

Additionally, Google announced that it would provide Google Photos with AI-powered features at Google I/O 2023. At I/O 2023, a new Magic Editor tool for Google Photos was shown off. It is said to be coming to the service in the coming months and can be used to add missing details to images where objects are only partially visible. Additionally, after an image has been captured, users will be able to move the subjects. The company claims that the Magic Editor for Google Photos will be available later in 2023.
